CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 09:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing out this morning, the crisp cold wind came back to the bay to remind us that the summer was slowly going to start ending. As we sailed out and out, we couldn't manage to get any close and entertaining sightings. Every time we spotted something, it ether went away or disappeared instantly. Though we spotted 5 minke whales and 2 white beaked dolphins, all of them were seen once by only few passengers, clearly not enough to satisfy everyone. As we headed more and more West, we finally managed to see a humpback whale, blowing and fluke diving far away ! Sadly, we were running out of time and had to turn back to Reykjavik, as we were too far out, meaning we barely saw this cetacean. We decided to give out complimentary tickets, because each sighting we had was to poor for all to actually see our whales.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 11:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out into the grey bay, eager to explore the unknown. There was a bit of swell as we sailed out as we were sailing into the waves. After a bit of searching we spotted a blow in the distance! We had found a humpback whale! We continued towards it and it started breaching! It was breaching for quite some time directly next to us! It did change direction a few times but would always come up and then often breach again! We tried to stay as long as we could but eventually ran out of time and had to head back to land!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300

Report from Eldey: We sailed out from Reykjavik port with direction towards the open waters. It didn't took long until we came across with 3 humpback whales all at the same area. They treaded us with many fluke dives. Not long after the 2 of them teamed up and stared to bubble net feeding close to our boat letting us speechless! While this was happening a minke whale breached and after this amazing show we started our way back to the port.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 15:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out this afternoon, on the way out there was quite a bit of swell but we ended up turning into the middle and it calmed significantly. We saw quite a few different bird species form Artic skuas to Northern gannets but sadly no cetaceans. We then decided to head further in land and have a closer look at the puffins and also double check this area for whales and dolphins too. This area we have quite a lot of luck later in the season so its always worth double checking. Before getting to Lundey we then spotted a minke whale! This one was a little tricky, sometimes coming very close to us, sometimes very far and once lunge feeding! We stayed with it for a little bit and then past the puffin island before heading home. We did also hand out complimentary tickets so that everyone has the chance to come again and see the bay in its full glory!
