CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into Faxafloi this morning with a bit of swell and wind. The wind was coming from the North so we headed out closer to land and then went into the bay with the wind in our back. On the way out we saw 2 harbour porpoises and then found a humpback whale! We stayed with this humpback as long as we could and then on the way back found a minke whale! This minke came super close to us and surfaced a few times! It was quite cool to see it so close to the boat, we got to see its gorgeous pattern on its back!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into Faxaflói and enjoyed some beautiful sunshine and a bit of swell on the way while we searched for whales! We had been sailing for about an hour when suddenly a minke whale appeared! This minke whale was a bit shy and did not surface again so we continued on our search and spotted another minke whale! This one surfaced quite close to the boat a few times before disappearing into the depths so we moved on once again to see if we could spot any more whales! It wasn't long until we encountered 4 harbour porpoises! But as it was getting quite late in the tour we started to head back to harbour and had one more minke whale surface in the waves just before we turned back! Since the sightings were quite short everybody was offered complementary tickets. As we were sailing back, a beautiful northern gannet came up to the boat and started gliding with us! It was almost within touching distance! We continued sailing back with the northern gannet following us for over 20 minutes! On the way back we enjoyed some music and hot chocolate and some sunshine to end the day.
