Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: As we sailed out of Reykjavík Harbour we couldn´t believe how much the wind had calmed down. On the way offshore we got to see a couple of pods of Harbour Porpoises (2-3 individuals in each) and Seabirds. We saw one Minke Whale on the Way out but it was only seen once before going on a deep dive and not showing up again. This happened more times with other individuals. We must have seen at least 4 different Minke Whales but they were being very difficult to observe. It was at the end of our tour when our luck changed and we got to see a Minke Whale a couple of times and a pod of White-beaked Dolphins (3-5 animals) that we thoroughly enjoyed. A tour that started of slow but ended nicely.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out today in beautiful weather. The mountains had new snow covering which brought out the detail. It was stunning. The wind was still quite strong however and the ride a bit bumpy. We went to our favourite area and it was great to see the Minke Whales still there. We saw at least 3-5 Minke Whales and one of them was one we knew very well called Midi which has been seen every year since 2008. Midi has a square notch taken out of the dorsal fin and he/she surfaced just meters from our boat to say hello. The Gannets were diving and Harbour Porpoises (10-15 throughout the the whole tour) surfacing here and there. It was a fantastic morning to be on the water.

Birds seen on today´s tours include: Eider Ducks, Gannets, Fulmars, Razorbills, Common Guillemots, Cormorants, Glaucous Gulls, Black-backed Gulls and Kittiwakes.
