  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

All whale watching tours are on schedule today from Reykjavík! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: it was a cold northeasterly wind this morning but in between we had really calm spots, mostly between the islands, often times there with numerous birds so the birds know where to retreat to but mostly they follow the food, small school fish, rather than the wind; and same goes for the cetaceans, which in the case of this morning tour turning out to be a small (4-6) but very interactive pod of White Beaked Dolphins that we could enjoy for a while while a few northern gannets hovered above in an opportunistic style, ready to go for anything that the dolphins might be kind enough to drive up to the surface. In summary: a very cold morning but equally enjoyable and the view was fantastic.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in beautiful sunny weather conditions. The sea was also calm and we even sailed by a ice floe with birds on it. We had to search for quite some time, but then we found a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins that were playing in the waves. We were spending a nice time watching them surfing around us, showing their energetic nature and then left them alone again, so we don't disturb them to much. We also heard that there was something bigger in the bay, so we "set sail" towards this location. After enjoying the icelandic landscape from the ocean we arrived and also saw two blows. It were 2 humpback whales ! Banana and Split. We were lucky enough to spent some time with them. They surfaced a lot and also fluked a lot, so we had beautiful views on their flukes. All of a sudden they popped up right in front of our boat, so we had a close up look on their snout, their pectoral and dorsal fin, the marks that they have on their skin and the fluke ! As always, all good things must come to an end, so we had to say goodbye to these 2 beauties and go back to the harbor. It was an amazing tour ! :)
