Tour at 13:00
Report from Eldey: Due to the wind and sea conditions our afternoon tour also started from Keflavik. But with the wind in our back on this tour we made our way back to our home harbour Reykjavik, a great trip we do not undertake every day. The weather today came in all icelandic flavors you can imagine: From clear blue sky to hailing and snow always accompanied by a strong breeze. Although we covered a big area, sailing about 22 sm, and everyone kept scanning the surrounding water surface close to the ship and also in the distance, we did not get to see any cetaceans today. Even in the area close to Reykjavik where we saw different cetacean species within the last weeks, we only got to enjoy the clear sea, the sound of the waves and the amazing landscape in the distance but no cetaceans. Thus, as in the morning we offered complementary tickets to all our passengers and hope to see them again on one of our other tours.

Report from Eldey: Like yesterday, we sailed out from Keflavik due to the strong winds from the Southwest. We headed straight to the Northwest along the coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula and checked the same area where the two humpback whales were seen on yesterday's morning tour. We took a few turns and spent some time in an area with loads of birds, mainly northern fulmars and northern gannets. There were birds everywhere and some small flocks were clearly feeding which told us that there was at least some food around which may also attract whales or dolphins. However, we did not see any signs of cetaceans in the area and slowly turned around to check a different area. The landscape was beautiful and we got to enjoy snow, hail, a bit of rain and some sunshine on this tour and our Captain did a great job in keeping the sailing quite comfortable for most of the time. We were still hoping to find some animals on the way back but the birds seemed to be the only wildlife around. Therefore, we offered complimentary tickets to all our passengers to give them another chance to see some cetaceans on our tour. These tickets are valid for the next two years and can be used for another tour in Faxafloi or from Akureyri in the North of Iceland!

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern gannet, northern fulmar, common guillemot, brent goose, cormorant, and eider duck.
