Tour at 13:00
The weather wasn´t so great for this tour. It was starting to rain slightly and a little foggy. The sea was a bit choppy also. We started by visiting Akurey and saw a lot of Puffins as well as Eider Ducks and Gulls. Then we headed offshore, we first came across a pod of Harbour Porpoises which was near a flock of feeding Gannets, Gulls, Puffins, Guillemots, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars, Kittiwakes and Arctic Terns then suddenly a Minke whale surfaced just under the birds. We saw this whale surface a couple of times then after a couple of minutes waiting we saw another one in the distance. We waited for them to surface again but they never did so, we headed a bit further offshore. Then two White-beaked Dolphins were seen but only twice and far away they also disappeared after only seeing them twice. On our way home we saw another small pod of Harbour Porpoises which surfaced a few times giving the passengers a great look. The whales seemed to be quite elusive today. Let’s hope that they are more interactive tomorrow.

We set off this morning in nice weather and calm sea but it was drizzling. After sailing for some time we spotted a small group of Harbour Porpoises. They surfaced several times and some of them came pretty close to our vessel. We had to go quite far out today to find the big whales and we spent a lot of time searching. The first Minke whale surfaced a couple of times quite close to the boat but it was always diving for a long time. The second Minke we spotted was on our way back to the harbour, first we spotted the blow which was about 60 meters from us. Then it surfaced three times showing us the back and dorsal fin before going for a deep dive. So the Minke Whales were being pretty difficult for this tour hopefully they will be better on the next.
