- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00
Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00
Report from Elding: Under the pink skies of the sun rising to greet us, we set sail out into the bay. Very close to port we noticed a flock of gulls foraging and decided to take a look around our islands to see if anyone was nearby. Recently the fish has been very close, bringing with them our cetaceans. Not too long into our journey we spotted the blow of one humpback whale! This individual was quite curious and surfaced close to us! It was amazing when we can see their entire bodies through the surface of the water. After a few surface sequences, this individual started a resting behavior known as 'logging' at the surface of the water. It is always great when they rest as you get a prolonged viewing time of the individual! After keeping us waiting, this humpback started to move their white pectoral fins and treated us to that wonderful fluke dive! After an amazing viewing, it was time to wave this humpback goodbye and head back to port. A wonderful way to start our day!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING l 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: With overcast skies and a brisk breeze, we bundled up and set out to see who was around to greet us this afternoon. Since we were successful in the morning around the islands, we decided to start our search here. We saw a flock of birds feeding and decided to see if anyone was in this location. After a bit of patience, we spotted the breath of one humpback whale as they surfaced right in front of us! What a great welcome to see the whale above the surface of the water. It was amazing to see the entire body come into focus as they then rose to the surface to take a breath. After multiple surface sequences, we were treated to a fluke dive! It is always so wonderful to see their individual pattern under their tails, as sometimes the humpbacks will not show their tail to us as they dive. When this individual surfaced again, they were right next to our boat. With such a nice sighting it was difficult to pull ourselves away. But alas, with great views of our humpback, it was unfortunately time to wave this individual goodbye and head back to port. When we were pulling away we quickly spotted the head of one grey seal. Though a quick view, before this seal swam off it was a nice surprise. What a lovely afternoon.
