Tour at 13:00

The wind was picking up a lot and we told all our passengers that this tour would bee quite rough. And it was bumpy but it was also very successful. When we came to the area where we spotted the whales and the birds this morning, the birds were still there and also some minke whales. In the beginning it was difficult to get close to the whales but then we spotted a big blow 400 meters away from our boat and lots of diving gannets. When we got closer we found out it was a humpback whale. We followed the humpback for some time and just before we had to leave because the time was out, we spotted many minke whales all Around us, some very close and even some harbour porpoises showed up close to the boat. Considering the weather the tour was brilliant.

Birds seen on the tour: Black-backed gulls, fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbills, puffins and gannets.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Elding: We sailed out in quite rough conditions with the wind in our back. The birdlife was active but unfortunately after scanning a quite large area we had only seen hints of whales. Quite late on the tour we were finally rewarded for our patients and persistence to see the whales. We spotted a minke whale and it surfaced few times quite close to the boat.

Report from Hafsúlan: We set of this morning with some pretty big waves from previous night. We spent a long time searching for whales and finally a small group of white-beaked dolphins showed up close to us. But the dolphins were in a bad mood and disappeared very quickly. Then we came to an area with some feeding birds and found a few minke whales. They surfaced a few times close to our boat and we hope that all our passengers could see them. A little rough tour.
