CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning the sky was overcast and a strong northern wind blew our way. We did however use the Snæfellsness mountains as shelter and so the sea was not too rough in the northern part of the bay. During the tour, we found ourselves 1 humpback whale, which we could see pec slap a few times on approach and surfaced one time close to the boat! After that however, it went on very long dives and we unfortunately could not see it again before we ran out of time and needed to head back home. For this reason, we handed out complimentary tickets to all passengers so they can come again in the future to enjoy the wildlife here in the best way possible.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1100

Report from Elding: We set off once again this morning against some strong winds. Thankfully, as the whales had been closer to land in recent days it meant we could also take some shelter whilst we searched. We travelled around close to the islands just off the coast. We passed through an area with many seabirds including Northern gannets, Northern fulmars and Atlantic puffins but there were no cetaceans to be seen. Then after about an hour of searching a big blow went off in front of us. It took a bit of time to get closer as the whale wasn't surfacing too often but their behaviour then started to change. We now knew we had come across a humpback whale! It was now surfacing very regularly for a few times before showing the fluke. A few times it was also really close to us so we had a great look at it. After a while we then had to head back but now with the wind behind us everyone was very happy after a great tour.
