CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today we started with a cold breeze from Southeast, but we warmed ourselves up with overalls and hot chocolates and we were ready to go! We sailed out in the bay, in the direction of Hvalfjordur, where we saw a couple of whales on the last days, so we decide to try our luck there first. We still were very far from the entrance of the fjord, but we spotted a big splash in the distance! We had a humpback whale breaching non-stop! We got a bit closer and it just continued, showing its whole body out of the water. Then it started to wave and slap the long pectoral fin on the surface and then rolled, showing both fins at the same time. After breaching again, it went for a couple deep dives and did a surprise lob tailing, followed by a tail slap as well. Since there were other boats around and we spent a while with this individual already, we decided to start heading back to Reykjavík. On the way back, we could spot many Atlantic puffins and Northern fulmars that were following our boat. What a great morning!
