Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Calm sea, shining sun and feeding whale sounds for us more like a description of a summer day but looks like now at the end of November we also had some glory days. In the morning we left "sightseeing" humpback whale by the Sun Voyager sculpture and hour later, on afternoon trip we begin from looking back for this animal. We found it between island Videy and commercial harbour. This time whale wasn't slowly or "sleepy" but was feeding in the most spectacular way possible - lunge feeding, surfacing in powerful movements, with jaws full of water and fish. Whale was acting very confided not only around boats but also by feeding right next to the harbour wall. It was moving around and we decided to keep respectful distance what was rewarded by whale coming up right next to us, so close that we could count little fish trying to escape from this huge mouth. Another animal which also was having lunch in this spot was a harbour seal, also not afraid of us. We could watch that for hours but whale so close to land attracted attention and when we felt that too many boats are around we decided to follow code of conduct and we left. Further out in the bay we didn't spot any more animals but we didn't really need anything more after what we saw.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We started our trip sailing around the islands in front of Reykjavik. The world-wide famous whale which has been around the area for the last days was worthy to try. We couldn't find it so we decided to sail out towards Faxafloi to check what was available in the whale-watching menu. Apart from I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E colors in the sky due to the sunrise (beautiful pinkish and orangish tones mixed with the morning clouds over the mountains), we couldn't find anything. We returned to the harbour a bit sad until we got a call telling us that our most notorious humpback whale was waiting for us just in front of the Sun Voyager, what a blast! We enjoyed this relaxed animal for a while before we headed back into the harbour with the sun in the sky and a huge smile in our faces.
