Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised.

Report from Eldey : The sea was quite nice this morning as we started our sail out in Faxafloi bay. We got a bit of rain at the very beginning of the trip but afterwards we managed to stay quite dry. By the harbour was spotted a minke whale, this individual was quite elusive and we manage to see its back only once. We then continued our sail. After some time we managed to notice a blow and a minke whale feeding in the area. We only saw that individual once before it disappeared back in the water. We looked around, took a circle and saw a few elusive harbour porpoises for a brief moment, about 4 of them. We continued our trip and started to head back toward the harbour, we noticed again 2 harbour porpoises in our way back passing really fast by us. Due to the elusive nature of those animals we offered some complimentary tickets to our passenger when we got closer to the harbour. Unfortunately we did not get lucky with the sightings during this tour, but this is nature completely unpredictable, and it is how it should be. Hopefully our passengers will come back soon and have better luck next time.

Report from Eldey: We left Reykjavik under the rain, escaping the low cloud after 30 min of sailing. We went a bit more south than this morning hoping to see more life in the bay. We stopped when we saw a minke whale, but like this morning, the minke quickly disappeared. There was another one in the distance but it seemed difficult to find it and we wanted to explore further out. We left and found a third minke that was much nicer this time, surfacing close to us several times. We stayed with it for a while seeing its blow brightened by the sun and its dark back coming to the surface. When we could not find it anymore we turned back. There was a nice sun so the tour was pleasant. During the way back we spotted 2 more mike whales with a total count of 5 during the tour, and we quickly spotted 3 harbour porpoises almost bow riding for a few seconds. We went back to Reykajvik enjoying the sun and views on the city and mountains around.
