CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 0900
Report from Eldey: Today is the first day of summer and so we set off looking forward to seeing many cetaceans to celebrate! We sailed out and saw huge flocks of seabirds including black legged kittiwakes and Northern gannets. At one stage a minke whale surfaced once behind us then a bit later on another one came up too close to some birds. We got to watch this one for longer as it surfaced more often. It would appear in a very different place everytime. We then started to head back to the harbour as we were running out of time. Due to the tricky sightings this morning we handed out complimentary tickets so everyone can come back and hopefully have some more luck with sightings.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300
Report from Eldey: the sun warmed our faces and a strong eastern wind pushed us out into a calm bay this afternoon. After some searching about a big splash suddenly caught our attention. A humpback whale had just made its presence very known so excited we kept on the lookout for this creature. It went for very short dives that lasted mere minutes so we got to see it nice and close multiple times. It even showed us its beautiful fluke every now and then when it went back down! After a nice long encounter with this whale it was time for us to go back towards port, satisfied with this excellent afternoon trip out at sea.
