Today's whale watching tour at 09:00 and 13:00 from Reykjavík are on schedule! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: we started our cold morning with a lot of wind coming from the East. To warm us up, the sun decided to slowly come in between the clouds, sunbathing the mountains! We first started going towards Lundey island, as we saw many seabirds around. We then saw a couple of scattered dorsal fins and we realized we had about 5 harbour porpoises in the area, mainly close to us! They were very fast as always and feeding, as they were changing directions a lot, but we could get a couple views of them. There was also a grey seal, watching all the movement. We thought we were in a good spot and it didn't take long until we saw a dark back followed by a blow on the surface. It was a lone humpback whale, Banana! Very calmly and gently, it was going for many fluke dives, probably busy feeding as well. On the way back, we stopped by Viðey island and we spotted 3 more grey seals, swimming and curious! We then went home happy with all the sightings.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in a little windy weather, but the sea conditions were good. We had to go for a bit, but then spotted a blow. It was the first of 2 humpback whales. Quiet hard to follow though, because he didn't surface a lot and when he did, he came up in all kinds of directions. So we left and found the second whale shortly after. This one was Banana and and surfaced often and also showed us it's beautiful fluke. After we admired Banana we had to leave, because we don't want to crowd them. On the way back we then saw 4 harbor porpoises surfacing 2 times very fast and then they were gone and at the same time a little further away the other humpback surfaced again. So we went there for a bit to say goodbye. The humpback surfaced right next to our boat, right before we wanted to leave, leaving quite the impression. :)
