CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing out in perfect glossy sea and great weather, we knew that this morning's tour would be continuing our recent quality streak. Very soon into the tour, we started encountering animal on animal, hoping from specie to specie, endlessly experiencing new behaviors: altogether, we saw over 7 minke whales, 5 pods of harbour porpoises, 8 humpback whales and over 8 pods of white-beaked dolphins ! In the middle of this clear feeding frenzy, we managed to see whales and dolphins breach, spy hop, turn, even encountering our long friend Davy Jones 2nd, a humpback whale we have the chance to see every summer at the same period ! Blows and dorsal fins never stopping to appear on the vast horizon, we had at some point to turn back, knowing that it would be hard to get a better tour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 11:00

Report from Eldey: We left the harbour in near-perfect cetacean spotting conditions, flat seas and a bit of sunshine peaking through the clouds. We spotted several blows quite soon, and headed towards the nearest one, the first humpback whale of the tour! This was a very calm individual, spending lots of time near the surface, occasionally going for some deeper dives, showing us its fluke. We spent a bit of time admiring it before moving on to one of the other blows spotted in the area. As we made our way over, we also spotted a very elusive minke whale in the distance, but stayed on course for the humpback. This individual had a very consistent heading and speed, going for a couple shallow dives between fluke dives. We followed this humpback for quite a while, heading closer to two other blows in front of us. All of a sudden, the humpback we had been following breached right next to our boat! This seemed to awaken the other 2 humpbacks as well, as one of them also started breaching and head slapping! What a treat! The third humpback was headed straight for our boat, giving us a great close-up view of its head and pectoral fins before going for a dive right under our boat! What a great encounter! So many whales, so many great acrobatic behaviours displayed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 13:00

Report from Hafsula: This afternoon the wind picked up slightly but the ocean was still incredibly calm! Eager to see what we would find, we once again headed out! Not long after leaving we spotted a blow and had found a humpback whale! This humpback had a very pronounced hump in-front of its dorsal fin and was quite a large whale indeed. It came up a few times, always showing its gorgeous fluke. We stayed a little bit before heading on, only to find another humpback whale! We ended up in an area where we were essentially surrounded by them. There was three humpback whales ahead of us and one behind us. And in between all this 3 pod of 15 white beaked dolphins appeared as well. As we had seen the whales quite well we decided to have a closer look at the dolphins who were clearly feeding and travelling. After they continued with their journey, so did we and found another humpback whale! This one once again was spoiling us with its fluke but then as other boats arrived we decided to head on. Not long after we found another (!!) humpback whale, making this 6 humpback whales during the tour. This one was pec-slapping as we were arriving and then breached incredibly close to us as well. It continued pec-slapping and rolling so close that we could even see its eye! A magical moment for all of us on board. We stayed as long as we could, but it seemed the whale was happy to put a show on for us but then did head on, so we started our return journey back to harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 15:00

Report from Eldey: We headed out into the bay with sparse cloud cover and calm waves. It didn't take us long to spot the blow of our first humpback whale, a very calm individual. We spent a lovely couple of minutes with this very calm whale, which even gave us a wave goodbye, by rolling onto its side, showing us half of its fluke. We headed towards another blow as well as some splashes in the distance, another humpback whale interacting with a pod of 7 white-beaked dolphins! This humpback greeted us by raising its long, white pectoral fin above the water, and the dolphins gave us quite a show, leaping and porpoising energetically! We were able to stay here for quite a while, enjoying the sight and company of cetaceans all around us, until it was time to head back towards the harbour. We the moved onwards to a third humpback, wo was taking nice deep dives, showing of the fluke, until it was time to move back to harbour. Om our way back we then spotted a 4th humpback whale, and shortly after, another pod of 6 dolphins came speeding towards us, gaving us a short escort as the were swimming alongside us and bowriding! What a tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 2030

Report form Hafsulan: We sailed out with clear skies and calm seas with course to the open waters. We came across at least 5 white beaked dolphins  that lead as towards our fist humpback whale. We stead with it for quite a long until another humpback whale joined. They treated us with bobble net feeding and many nice  fluke dives making our trip one of a kind.
