Tour at 20:30

Tour cancelled due to bad weather at Faxaflói bay.

Tour at 17:00

The wind was still blowing when we headed out to Akurey to visit the puffins. We saw lot of puffins this windy afternoon around the island. After that we headed out on Faxaflói to search for the whales. We had to search for a long time without any luck, and the boat was like a big rollercoaster going up and down in the waves. After a long time searching we found a minke whale! It surfaced 3 times only 40 meters away from us before going for a deeper dive. In this area we saw lot and lot of gannets all around us! Some of them were flying really close to us, just amazing. But we did not find the whale again. So all in all, one good minke whale, lot of fresh air and lot of gannets.

Birds seen on tour: Puffins, gannets, fulmars, arctic skuas, arctic terns

Tour at 14:00

We started our blustery tour at Akurey and once again there were many Puffins flying around the island. Then we headed out into the area where we were successful the last tour but alas very little. One of the passengers did find us a couple of Harbour Porpoises which were nice but they soon disappeared. We did see a blow from a whale too but we waited and waited and waited but no whale. What was really nice about the tour was the really close encounters of the Fulmars nearly touching the passengers heads as they flew pass. We also had a Pomarine Skua with us for about 5 minutes flying 10 meters from our boat. Second seen this summer.

Tour at 13:00

The weather was the same, quite rough. We spotted lots of puffins at Akurey and then we headed out to Faxaflói to try to find the whales again. But luck was not with us this time. After searching for a long time we found a small and very shy pod of white-beaked dolphins and they only surfaced twice before disappearing. We spent a long time searching, crossing a large area but no sign of the whales. So we gave our passengers some complimentary tickets.

Tour at 10:00

The wind was definitely stronger than predicted but it made the tour a bit like a rollercoaster which was a lot of fun. We started at Lundey Puffin Island and were glad to see all the Puffins at home. Then we headed out into Faxaflói Bay to where our sister vessel is and what an amazing time we had. Must of seen at least 5-7 Minke Whales and one even surfaced just 10m from our boat. One of the best tours of the last couple of days. Hoping the Minkes are finding there way into the Bay.

Tour at 09:00

We started the tour at the puffin island Lundey and lots of puffins at home. There was some swell when we headed out to Faxaflói and a strong wind. It took us some time finding the whales, then finally we spotted some gannets and in the same area at least 6-8 minke whales and a small pod of harbour porpoises. It was amazing, the whales surfaced all around us and some came very close like on time only 5 meters in front of us. And it was also fantastic watching so many gannets diving in to the water. Despite the weather this tour was very good.

Birds seen on todays tours include; Gannets, Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Manx Shearwaters, Gulls, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Arctic Skuas, Great Skuas and one Pomarine Skua (WOW!!).
