Report from Eldey: Incredible weather continues! Today we had the most beautiful conditions to sail in Faxafloi bay again. There was a chilly wind blowing from the North but we provided our passengers with warm overalls. The sea was quite calm and visibility very good with sun shining over the bay. We couldn’t have wished for better spotting conditions. We started scanning our surroundings with sharpened eyes right from the beginning of the tour on. After about an hour of sailing, some of our passengers spotted something pop up right next to the boat: A harbour seal! We saw its little head appear from the water but the next moment it was already gone. Nevertheless a very cool sighting, as we don’t get to see seals very often on our tours! We continued sailing and kept observing a lot of seabirds around, in flocks, sitting at the sea surface. Sometimes the birds would suddenly all take off and we did our best to browse the areas carefully because maybe something would have been swimming underneath them and scared them all off. It wouldn’t be the first time! We spotted some tiny dorsal fins coming up randomly every now and then: in total about 6-8 harbour porpoises during the tour. But they were being like harbour porpoises usually are -very tricky to keep up with. It was a very enjoyable sail but we didn’t see any whales or dolphins, unfortunately. Therefore all of our passengers got a complimentary ticket allowing to come on another whale watching tour for free with us within the next two years.
