Tour at 17:00

The weather was not perfect, but better than in the previous tours ;-) Still a bit rough but we headed out on Faxaflói none the less and got our best sightings of the day! We found a really good area with large flocks of feeding birds and were lucky to get a good look at a couple of minke whales feeding in the surface, right under the birds. Some of the minke whales that we spotted came up to the surface once or twice before deep diving (and disappearing) but others were more approachable and surfaced a couple of times in a row giving us a good opportunity to watch them :-)

Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: It was still rough out there in Faxaflói bay. We had to search for some while and found a few minke whales really far, far out! The people had to show a lot of patience but got rewarded at the end. There were two minke whales which came a few times up to breath close to the boat!

Report from Hafsúlan: The conditions were a little better on this tour than in the morning, but the weather was still rough. We sailed far out on this tour, passing several flocks of feeding birds without spotting any whales. In the end we spotted a nice minke whale that surfaced close to us several times. It changed direction a lot while we were observing it and was probably herding fish under the surface and feeding.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Elding: The weather was quite rough today! The whales didn't seem to be in a good whale watching mood today either. But we managed to find one particularly good minke whale. It fed there with the birds and surfaced always somewhere rather close to the boat. We had a lot of fun watching it and were very pleased to have found at least one but very nice minke whale :-)

Report from Hafsúlan: We weren't as lucky as Elding and didn't find any good whales. We saw a couple of blows in the distance but the whales didn't surface when we got closer. It was a rough morning out on the bay, and in spite of good efforts from crew and passengers alike we didn't get any sightings. Our passengers got a complimentary ticket and can come with us on another tour for free. We look forward to seeing them again!
