Tour at 17:00

The sea was still nice and calm like in the morning and it was lovely to sail out on the bay this evening. Like in the previous tours we had to sail far out on the bay, but it certainly paid of! We spotted a minke whale and it was very approachable :-) It came up to the surface several times, sometimes pretty close to us. In the end of the tour when we were about to leave it, it jumped with half of its body up from the sea and gave us a splash! Then it swam alongside the boat, right under the surface so that five (or six) fluke prints formed on the surface, and then it dived. A couple of seconds later it appeared a couple of hundred meters away, allowing us to admire it one last time :-)

Again we spotted white-beaked dolphins on this tour.  The first group, maby about ten animals, were fast swimming and kept us very busy. They always dived a longer time and changed direction under water. We had to concentrate well, to spot them when they came up again. In the end we had the feeling that they try to leave us and we kept on searching for some other whales. Later we spotted again a very nice group of dolphins. They approached the boat several times and surfaced beside the boat. They were really enjoyable!

Tour at 9:00

The weather was just perfect today, no wind at all, the sea as flat as a mirror and sunshine. Like the last days the whales were rather far out in the Faxaflói-bay. Today was the day of the dolphins! Everywhere we could spot white-beaked dolphins. We got two groups closer to the boat. The first group was large with 20 to 30 animals and they stayed a long time always somewhere around the boat. It was just fun and nice! The second group was different but very nice, too. At least 10 to 15 animals where fast swimming close to the boat and we sailed with them. From time to time they jumped out of the water.
