Tour at 17:00
Report from Eldey: The weather kept improving and improving! Definitely the sea is going to look like a mirror in the next few days, we can't wait to enjoy it! This tour was, without any doubts, a dolphin tour. Almost right from the beginning we spotted the first of a several pods of white beaked dolphins. This one, with around 10 individuals, was really playful and enjoyed our presence as much as we enjoyed theirs. So they soon checked on us and bow-rode our boat, sometimes making a few circles and gently leaping. After half an hour (it was such a good show that we kept starring at them for ages!) we proceed our sailing into more further waters, but instead of whales we kept finding different small pods of around 4-6 white beaked dolphins. We were lucky enough to even see them jumping in the distance and making enormous splashes! So in conclusion almost no whales for the day, but really happy to see the dolphins coming back in action in the Faxa Bay.

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions were still pretty nice this afternoon so we could enjoy a nice sail with the sun giving us some tan. It didn't take a long time until we got the news from another whale watching boat that they had found a group of white-beaked dolphins. We headed over there and could see the dolphins already from a great distance because several of them were jumping out of the water and kept doing so for quite a while. It was awesome to see them so active and soon we got closer to them and finally go a closer look. The white-beaked dolphins had stopped jumping when we arrived in the area but then - even better - they became curious and started to swim all around as and play around the bow. Swimming back and forth we could easily follow them underneath the water surface, that's how close they were. When the dolphins calmed down a bit, they gave us the perfect opportunity to get some nice pictures and we spent a decent amount of time with them, until we moved further out to find some other animals. We returned to the area where we had seen the humpback whale on the morning tour but no sign of this animal was to be seen. On our way back we still enjoyed the amazing Icelandic spring weather and the view over the Reykajvik area until we made it back t the harbour!

Report from Eldey: The sea was pretty calm this morning, with only a gentle breeze blowing at no more than 4-5 m/s. We headed out this morning into the Faxa Bay and, after 50 min of search we spotted the first cetacean of our trip, a minke whale! Although it would be more fair to say that it was it the one that found us, as it appeared 40 meters away from the boat, swimming in parallel with us. The animal offered us quite a nice and close show, enjoyed by all the passengers. After half an hour we went further out to try to see something else, and so we did. The time had come for us to see a humpback whale! We gaze the animal surfacing in three different sequences that were followed by really long deep dives. Probably something in the bottom, fish or krill, was maintaining entertained the humpy. Nonetheless it was a really enjoyable morning with the whales as protagonists.
