  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900

Report from Eldey: After a few days of cancellations, we finally set sail today, feeling pretty hopeful. The weather was looking way better—much nicer than it had been—and we were ready to see something cool. About half an hour in, we got lucky. We spotted a blow not too far from Lundey, and yep, it was a humpback whale! It was such a treat to see. The whale was fluking a lot, just doing its thing, and the sun was shining down on us—though it was still pretty chilly. The sea was super calm too, which just made everything feel even more magical. All in all, it was a fantastic whale-watching trip. Couldn't have asked for a better day on the water!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Our tour got blessed with a sunny sky and amazing snowy views on Esja. This inspired our Captain to take us further out! There was still a bit of swell, but it was much less than in the morning. The sun shining on the ocean felt like we were teletransported to the Caribbean sea because of the turquoise water! Thanks to the sun, we were able to spot almost at the same time splashes and 2 blows! The splashes were from at least 10 or more pods of white-beaked dolphins! They seemed quite happy as they didn't stop jumping for a second and were being followed by loads of black-legged kittiwakes, signaling the presence of food. The blows were about 500 metres apart, and they were from 2 humpback whales!! These amazing giants were probably feeding on the same stuff the dolphins were, likely to be capelin. They did not jump like the dolphins, but displayed amazing fluke dives for everybody to see, followed by short dives and never swimming away from us. We stayed with each individual for about 20 minutes, with dolphins in between and after a few snow clouds we decided to call it a day and head back home! Frábært tour!!
