  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00, 14:00

Today's Classic Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The wind was a bit icy this morning, but the sun was shining and it turned out a lovely day out at sea. We enjoyed our little ocean adventure and there were quite some seabirds out. We managed to see Atlantic puffins, Northern fulmars, kittiwakes and Northern gannets flying close to our boat. We also admired the stunning landscape surrounding Faxafloi and learnt bits and bops about local folktales, pop culture and the Icelandic language. As we did not find any whales or dolphins on this trip, our guests received a complimentary ticket to try their luck another time.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We set out into icy winds with white caps painting the water surface. We headed into Hvalfjörður, to seek some shelter from the wind and swell, getting a wonderful view of Esja on our right and Akrafjell on our left. We got to see some of the many seabirds soaring around us such as the majestic Northern gannets, the Northern fulmars, and of course, the stars of the show, the little less graceful but always adorable Atlantic puffins. We even got to see just a bit of excitement in the form of two graceful Arctic skuas harassing a kittiwake. Unfortunately, we didn't spot any signs of cetaceans in the afternoon. Unable to show the bay and wildlife in all it's glory, we handed out complimentary tickets so they can come back and try their luck again.

Birds encountered today include:

Atlantic puffin, Northern gannet, Northern fulmar, black guillemot, greater and lesser black-backed gull, black-legged kittiwake, common gull, herring gull, common eider duck, brent goose, Arctic skua
