CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: Today we had a bit of swell at sea, together with rain and Southern winds... Well, Iceland in spring! We packed ourselves with hot drinks and overalls and off we went to look for some animals! Right after we left the harbour, we encountered a harbour seal swimming by, but our eyes went straight to something bigger up ahead: a minke whale on the surface, with its long dark back coming up! This minke was very predictable and we got to see it many times. The are was full of food, as we saw some birds around feeding! We then left this minke and went to another area. We spotted a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins, surfing with the swell! Then, on our way back, we spotted 3 harbour porpoises, so fast and passing by! We then passed by the seaside of Reykjavik and went home wet, but happy!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We headed out again in the afternoon, struggling a bit with the wind. It was hard to stay on our feet, but also fun leaning into it. With our brave passengers outside scanning the area with us, our chances felt good. We returned to the same spot as in the morning, and there it was: a minke whale. The whale was constantly changing direction, milling as it searched for food very close to the coast. So we could spot it at the different sides of the boat. Sometimes even very close to us. Perfect for everyone pictures! After a while observing this fantastic whale, we sailed a bit north and we spot briefly one single harbor porpoise. But the wind rose up so we prioritized the safety and comfort of our passengers and we decided to remind ourselves close to the coast to spot the Reykjavik landscape.
Birds encountered today include:
Northen fulmar, common eider, great cormorant, Northen gannet, guillemont, black razorbill, lesser black gull, black-legged kittiwake
