Tour at 20:30 : CANCELLED
Tour at 17:00
Report from Eldey: For the last tour this day we sailed from Hafnarfjörður harbour again, but the wind was not too strong anymore. After heading in the direction where we saw the humpback whale earlier, we came across a minke whale, surfacing four times just in front of our boat. However, this whale should be the only one for the tour. We headed out into the bay, as we were supposed to finish our tour back in Reykjavik, but we couldn´t find another whale. In the end we decided to hand out complimentary tickets to the passengers, so they can try their luck on another tour.

Report from Hafsulan: Our afternoon trip couldn't´t start better, wind picked down and it didn't´t take longer than 15 min. until we had our first encounter and it was great. A beautiful humpback whale was spotted in the distance, it was clearly resting for short periods close to the surface of the water and it was proven to be very predictable as it was surfacing every 4-5 mins. In one of these moments, the whale surfaced very close to the boat as we witnessed their huge pectoral fins. Later on, we carried on with our trip and we couldn't´t find more cetaceans, but atlantic puffin were everywhere as they are very busy feeding their little puflings.

Report from Eldey: As we saw whale on our way back from the previous trip we were prepared for sightings from very beginning. We faced wind and started searching for cetacean as soon as we left harbour. After 20 min of sailing we saw some active birds: noisy arctic terns and cute puffins. We slowed down and waited with our passengers ready to not miss anything. Our patience was rewarded when a humpback whale surfaced slowly less than 20m away from us. Whale came closer and swam slowly just beneath the surface so we could see all whale's body. Later on we followed this animal to the coast where beside whale watching we also could see waves crashing rocks and cliffs and green moss on the land. Adding to this show cloudy and windy weather we had truly Icelandic experience.

Status 9:00 and 10:00: DEPARTURES RUNNING FROM A DIFFERENT HARBOUR
Tour at 10:00
Report from Hafsulan: We departed from Hafnarfjörður with choppy waters and a bit of wind, but the swell we had experienced yesterday was gone, and the visibility was favourable for our morning's tour. Shortly after leaving the harbour, we started spotting large flocks of seabirds, giving us high hopes. After being misled by the birds a few times, our efforts were finally rewarded as we saw a humpback whale surface just 50 meters away from the boat! We were able to stay with the humpback for a long time, witnessing all kinds of interesting behaviours, such as lunge feeding and diving. We eventually had to make our way back to the harbour, enthused by this unique encounter.

Tour at 9:00
Report from Eldey: This morning we sailed out from Hafnarfjörður harbour again, as we were still facing the strong winds. Weather conditions were quite interchangeable, with some rain and sunshine mixed together. We did see a blow rather early during the tour, however, the responsable whale was nowhere to be seen afterwards. We searched for a very long time and were already starting our way back to the harbour, when all of a sudden a minke whale surfaced just in front of our boat. This individual was traveling very fast in the opposite direction, but we managed to see it two more times. Just shortly after this encounter we finally got to see the humpback whale, we were looking for earlier in the tour. At last we got to spent some enjoyable minutes with this amazing animal.
