Tour at 13:00

Status: RUNNING

Today we are sailing out from Keflavík harbor. This might impact combination tours as the tour will last between 4 and 5 hours. The sea conditions are going to be rough with winds from the southwest and swells.

Report from Hafsúlan and Eldey: Duo to high number of passengers we went out on two boats today. We went out from Keflavík because the sea conditions were better there than in Reykjavik. The area around Keflavík seemed to be lively, a lot of birds were flying around and that gave us more hope to find dolphins or whales as we find them often in the same areas. The sailing out on the bay was smooth, even though the wind was strong and the swell high we didn't feel it because we traveled with it. When we turned around to go back to Keflavík it got more rough. It is always more challenging to search for animals in these conditions and especially because we were also hit by a hailstorm that lasted 20 minutes! It didn't clear up until we were already close to land. Unfortunately we were able to find any cetaceans on the tour. All of our passengers got a complimentary ticket to come with us on another tour.

-Sigurlaug and Marcus

Birds seen on the tour: Northern fulmars, northern gannets, iceland gulls, glaucous gull, great black backed gulls, razorbill, common guillemots, shags, and kittiwake.
