CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900

Report from Hafsulan: We set off this morning under lots of clouds with a bit on sun squeezing through. We had the wind behind us which was good and there wasn't too much swell either. To our surprise only about 25 minutes into our journey, near Grotta, we spotted 2 humpback whales. They were going down for long dives ensuring we stayed patient. But it was worth it, they came very close on our right hand side giving us fantastic views of their bodies under the water. I love seeing their white pectoral fins under the water! After seeing these for a while we moved on and found a small pod of 3 harbour porpoises. We got a great view of these which isn't too common as they kept leaping out the water and were very visible. But they then disappeared to carry on feeding. After a while of not seeing any more cetaceans. We spotted a minke whale. This one only surfaced twice meaning not everybody got to see it. This was very typical minke behaviour. But overall we got to see 3 of our main cetaceans which was fantastic.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúla: Ropes off, course set and we sail out to the bay in search of cetaceans! The weather was a bit windy and with light rain but nothing could stop us today from finding these whales. In the previous tour, we saw a bit of everything so our expectations and hopes were high for a big day! The mystery got bigger as we passed by the same place where we were in the morning which made us look further in the distance. About 45 minutes in and we started to see blows and a splash so we got closer and closer and... a whale! There were 5 humpback whales in a small area feeding and milling around the boat to a point we could see their white pectoral fins very closely. Since we were a bit far out into the bay and short on time we decided to stay with the whales. It was time to head back, since the wind and rain picking up. It was a nice day with the whales!!
