CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúla: We sailed out today onto a grey calm sea. There was wind coming from the East so as we sailed out it felt like no wind at all. About 40min after sailing we saw big splashes on the horizon. And another one! We charged course to go have a closer look but what was probably 2 humpback whales seemed to have vanished. We tried hard to find them and when we couldn't continued further into Faxa flói. Shortly after another elusive humpback whale! It really seemed the animals were teasing us this morning. We saw a few blows, so we knew they were there - and then they would quickly disappear. As we searched for this individual we saw a pod of 8 white beaked dolphins! They were most likely feeding and just passed us by. Finally our patience was rewarded and we saw another humpback whale much closer to our boat Hafsúla! It came up a few times and showing us its beautiful white fluke too. Then it surprised us by coming directly next to the boat and even touching it! We were all in awe. It dove under the boat, and came up on our other side and then went for a deep dive. This was the perfect moment to leave and head back to harbour. On the way back we saw 3 harbour porpoises and even another humpback whale in the distance!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúla: It was really quite cold this afternoon when we started our sailing across Faxaflói bay to check for wildlife. Thankfully, the sea was quite calm and the wind was behind us and we immediately saw many puffins that got all the passengers excited already. We decided to go back to the area where we saw the whale in the previous tour and we spotted 1 harbor porpoise, quite elusive and fast. Then we also saw a blow in the distance and we got super excited to go closer to check better. Finally we saw 1 humpback whale! We also came across 3 other harbor porpoise on our way closer to the whale. It was quite elusive and after a while we decided to go somewhere else but then we spotted it again and we saw different fluke dives, pretty close to the boat. Also an unexpected breaching happened from the same individual in front of us, quite far but everyone saw it and got super stoked! It was a very nice ending for the tour!
