Report from Eldey and Hafsulan: This afternoon amazing weather continued as we sailed out with two boats this time. There was a little wind but relatively smooth seas with excellent visibility. Going out with two boats boosts our chances of finding Cetaceans and indeed we found whales in no time. Eldey spotted a minke whale only 15 minutes out of the harbour. However, it was very elusive and we only could see it for one surfacing. We continued sailing with high hopes and soon enough Hafsulan spotted a blow of a humpback whale in the distance. It was the same individual from this morning, exactly what we had been hoping to find. Both boats got to spend a good moment with the humpback whale, then continuing sailing to see what else was out there. Eldey found a second humpback whale a bit further and Hafsulan ended up seeing the first whale again after a while. Powerful blows and flukes raising above the water surface: Perfect views against the snowy mountains in the background. What an amazing afternoon with our first two humpbacks of the year!

Report from Eldey: We were in great moods this morning as finally, after many windy days, weather forecast was perfect for us! Just a little wind and calm sea. Also visibility was amazing as we could easily see Keflavik and Snæfellsjökull. Last afternoon we saw dolphins so we were hoping for a similar luck. For a big surprise to the crew and our passengers quite fast we saw a blow! Cloud of a steam coming from blowholes of a whale was hanging in the air. After a while of searching we begun to doubt in our sighting as we couldn't spot it again but then then some dorsal fins popped up. They were belonging to white-beaked dolphins - 3 of those were harassing a... humpback whale! What a combo! Whale seemed to be a little bit annoyed by his company as was blowing loudly, surfacing briefly and going for long dives. When a larger group of dolphins started to swim fast in our direction whale showed its tail and disappeared in the water. We weren't able to find it again but this interaction between different species we had a chance to witness definitely satisfied everyone on board! And it was our first humpback whale in 2020!
