Report from Eldey: After a day of patiently waiting to get out into the bay, we finally got to this evening. After the strong winds today the swell was still quite big times but we battled on through. On the journey out we saw many Arctic skuas fighting with other birds, trying to steal their food. Then out of nowhere a minke whale surfaced right in front of us. It stayed close for another breath before vanishing. So we carried on and saw another quick glimpse of a minke. Then a pod of 5-6 white beaked dolphins started to jump. Some of them also swam right up to our boat. This pod started to disappear for a few minutes at a time. We also saw another minke close to these dolphins. The dolphins had now become quite elusive so we started to head off to not disturb this pod. Due to the difficulty of these sightings we offered complimentary tickets so everyone can come back again.
