Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: Brrrr! Today was the perfect example to how Icelandic weather can change so quickly. At first it was windy, snowing and visibility was poor. You could see white caps just outside the harbour wall and some passengers were a little worried about seasickness. However once it came the time to leave the snow had stopped and the wind had dropped considerable to the point that is was almost a mirror on arrival back to the harbour. The skies cleared allowing the sun to cast a beautiful glow over the city and local mountains and with a little more light snow around we even got to see a double rainbow. We where also lucky with the wildlife a hungry humpback whale was spotted just by some nearby islands. Surfacing frequently and showing it’s stunning fluke from time to time. We watching it for a few surfaces before leaving and allowing other whale watching vessels to get a look. Another boat informed us of about 3 white-beaked dolphins, it took us a while to find them as they were quick shy and elusive but we managed to see them a few time before they disappeared again. On the way home we stopped off at the humpback again and whilst waiting not knowing where exactly it was it popped us just 1 meter from our bow. Amazing!! Another great tour of the Christmas Season.
Merry Christmas Everyone
