Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Elding: As we sailed out this morning the sun was rising at the same time. It was a beautiful sunrise, with orange clouds and sun-kissed mountains around us. After only 25min of sailing, practically just leaving the harbour we saw jumping white beaked dolphins! There was three individuals jumping and 5 more swimming around us. At one point they were bow-riding and swimming all in-front of us. As we were enjoying the jumping dolphins, we also spotted a large black back go for a deep dive! This was a humpback whale, but it was quite a shy individual that only came up once more so we headed on to see what else we could find. We spotted one more humpback, this one was travelling quite fast but showed us its fluke twice before vanishing. We then headed home, now facing stunning snowy mountains and Reykjavik.

Report from Eldey: the sun was strongly shining when we sailed out for our adventure in the afternoon. We still had a bit of choppy seas but this didn't get on our way on finding the whales. Right when we left the harbour, a passanger spotted a minke whale passing by, and we waited for it, but since we couldn't see it again, we decided to continue our way onto the bay. After covering some areas, we got to an area full of different species of birds, and we could see a blow not far from us! We had a humpback whale in the area. We joined this humpback and saw while it took long deep dives, spending about 6 min underwater. The blow was spectacular seen with the sunlight, giving away the location of this one easily! We stayed with it for a while, but we realized we were running out of time, since it took a while to find this individual. So we returned to Reykjavík enjoying the sun on our faces in the middle of fall.
