CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: This morning we sailed out onto a very calm ocean eager to see what awaits us! Not long after departure we spotted a shy minke whale but as it seemed to be on its own journey so we decided to head further out. On the way out we spotted lots of puffins, they have started trickling in and came very close to the boat and were easily visible! It means summer is close! After about 30 more minutes of sailing we spotted two blows in the distance! It looked like they were always quite close to each other and as we got closer we figured out they were 2 humpback whales. They did take turns coming up, so it was usually only one at a time that we saw. We watched on and saw a few fluke dives before they decided to head on as well. Its always hard to figure out the relationship between two humpback whales travelling together, but either way its a special encounter! On the way back we saw a pod of 20 white beaked dolphins! In the mix of the dolphins we saw another minke joining them as well. Sadly we were a bit pressed on time so headed back to harbour but still got to watch them as we sailed past. And then when we thought it was all over we saw 4 harbour porpoises! These only came up once but were still super cute and a nice end to the tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: We set off this afternoon and it had started snowing a lot reducing the visibility. But this didn't stop us seeing a minke whale nice and early into the tour. As the sea was so calm it was really easy to spot this whale as it surfaced. It came up quite a lot including a couple times close to our bow. We then carried on as we had so much of the bay still to explore. Not too long later we spotted 5-6 harbour porpoises. They came up a few times but were quite far away. Later on we did see another 3-4 porpoises a bit closer making them easy to see. We also saw another 2 minke whales before we spotted lots and lots of splashes in the distance. These were from a superpod of white beaked dolphins! There were probably at least 100 in this huge pod. They stretched so far and all you could see was dolphins. There were also some juveniles and calves. They came really close to us and we could see them swimming through the water. In the middle of this pod we then had a huge blow from a humpback whale. This humpback then started to roll and lifted it's pectoral fins out of the water! It went for a few dives giving us a great view of it's fluke. We then headed home after a sensational tour on lovely, calm seas.
