Report from Elding: During afternoon cruise weather conditions stayed calm, morning clouds moved away and sailing experience was wonderful. Optimistic after previous tour we headed straight to the place where we have seen whales previously. It was a long sail but on the way we encountered one elusive minke whale and one very calm and relaxed. This cool sightings already made our trip worthy. Unfortunately humpbacks were gone from previous spot but in collaboration with another boat we managed to find them. Before we approached them, first we stopped to spent few minutes with pod of around 6 white-beaked dolphins. Shortly after we enjoyed company of two humpback whales which were in synchrony going for short divers and coming back close to our boat. One of them was our well known individual, named Tattoo because of marks on its tail. Tattoo was spotted for the first time in 2016 and since was regularly seen in the North of Iceland. It's always a special treat when we are meeting our old friend.

Report from Elding: Beautiful start of new month. Faxafloi is full of life last week and we keep having amazing sightings on our departures. This morning weather was calm, cloudy with some light breeze pushing us through the bay. Our first encounter was special, because we saw two minke whales traveling together. Typically this animals are solitary, thus seeing two swimming side by side was rare. A little further out we spotted some big blows, surely belonging to bigger species. Before we could see what was that, we were surprised by another minke whale jumping right next to our boat.! Twice! That was amazing. When we cooled down after that shocking sighting we encountered humpback whales. There were probably 6 of them in the area but we focused at two. Humpbacks were feeding on a fish at depth of around 20m. Thanks to that we could watch them lifting their tails high before going for a dive. We spent half an hour with them before we had to sail back. On the way to the harbour we saw few more minke whales passing by. What a start of a day!
