CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: When we sailed out west we had sunshine and nearly no wind. Because there were no white caps at all and we could see really far. After about 30 minutes we saw our first humpback whale. It seemed relaxed and came up to the surface several times. We then spotted blows in the distance and decided to approach. In that area we found 6 humpback whales that were around us. Two of them were travelling together. One individual was breaching 3 times about 50 m away from our boat. Another individual, which could be identified as a female, was tailslapping 4 times about 20 m in front of the boat. On our way back we were soon surrounded by a pod of at least 10 white-beaked dolphins. They seemed playful and jumped many times. Close to the harbour we also saw a pod of around 15 harbour porpoises. All passengers got to see many whales.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 1300

Report from Hafsúlan: The tour started out foggy but with a very calm sea. After being on the look out for some time, the weather cleared up and the visibility increased: this is when we spotted 1 humpback whale blow. It was soon followed by a second humpback blow accompanying it. This pair humpbacks were the same from the previous tour. We also spot 2 harbor porpoises on our course towards the whales. A glimpse of sun also appeared to picture better the observation of these animals and in few minutes we were just surrounded by other humpbacks diving. We could see fluke dives everywhere and we estimated to have seen 8 individuals in total. Everyone was amazed! But due to the time that flied so fast we had to come back to the old harbour and we spotted another humpback and 1 minke whale a bit far from us and we couldn´t stop due to its elusive behaviour. What a good tour by the way!
