Report from Eldey: The afternoon started with a beautiful sun over Reykjanes peninsula and we headed out into Faxafloi bay in another search for our whales and dolphins. The sea conditions were similar as previous tour with some swell and movement on the boat, but with the sun and no wind it was comfortable to stay outside and enjoy the beautiful view. After we got further out in the bay we found a huge flock of birds, mainly northern fulmars flying around and 3 harbour porpoises that came up quite close to the boat a few times. With no more luck around the birds we changed our direction and all of a sudden, we saw something in the distance. We got closer and we got really close to 1 minke whale. We all got really excited since this is our first whale of the year! The minke whale surfaced several times really nice and slow before taking a deeper dive. After some patient and waiting we spotted it again! With everyone on deck helping us out we got to see the whale 3-4 times before it took a longer dive and we decided to go back. Our first minke whale of the year gave us a really nice encounter and we could sail back to Reykjavik happy and hopefully the whales have returned to Faxafloi bay.

Report from Eldey: It was cold but beautiful morning tour. There was no wind and our boat was only slightly rocked by undercurrent waves. Bright moon was hanging just above horizon in front of us while pinkish lights of new day were coloring sky in our back. Visibility was great as we could see mountain ranges up to Snaefellsjokull glacier. Unfortunately only bird-watchers returned satisfied from oure excursion as big cetaceans were nowhere to be found. Few lucky guests who decided to stay outside all time were blessed with short sighting of 3 harbour porpoises. As not everyone was that lucky, like always in such a cases, our passengers were given a next chance with our complimentary whale watching tickets.
