CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We sailed out in this very sunny but windy morning through the bay. We encountered a very dense and diverse birdlife during our way out, sign of the positive activity we would encounter. We passed by 6 minke whales during this tour, with very various activity: some passed by quickly, some breathed and blew right in front of us. Luckily for us, 2 of them passed really close to our boat, just enough to see precisely both its dorsal fin and blow hole. Our last minke sighting of the morning came straight towards us before completely inverting its direction, fast enough that we could see the rapidity and agility of these baleen whales.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 10:00
Report from Hafsúlan: Sunny but breezy day at sea. We sailed closed to Akranes shore to get brakes from the wind. Unfortunately no cetaceans seen on this tour but we did sail close to Lundey Island to take a look at the puffins. Everyone received complimentary tickets valid for the next 2 years.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: The swell picked up a bit since the morning, but after some searching we found an area with large flocks of seabirds. Among them, we spotted the blow of a minke whale. This whale was elusive and we lost sight of him, but a little while later a pod of 3-4 white-beaked dolphins popped up next to the boat. They staid with us for a minute or two, and then we were distracted by two more minke whales. The whales were travelling fast, and the dolphins had also disappeared so we left this area. On the way back to Reykjavík, we found a humpback whale. We saw the whale for a few surfaces, and then it arched his back to go for a deep dive. While we were waiting, three more minke whales came up in the same area. Unfortunately, our time was up and although we had seen quite a diversity of wildlife, we decided to give out complimentary tickets so that passengers could came back to see the whales for a bit longer and in more calm seas.
