✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | at 9:00

Report from Eldey: Even though we had a few clouds in the sky this morning, it was still warm and rather calm out at sea. We were heading out for about 45 min, when we came across a pod of 3-5 white beaked dolphins. However, these individuals were rather elusive, so we left them in peace. A minke whale also surfaced in this area three times but then disappeared. Shortly afterwards 3 more pods of white beaked dolphins appeared around the boat, in total about 13-16 individuals. They came up close to the boat, feeding next to us and  jumping out of the water. They also had a few calves with them, making this encounter even more incredible. Since more boats were arriving in the area, we kept going and came across another minke whale. This individual surfaced very close to our boat and we could even hear the whale exhale, when surfacing. With all these wonderful memories in mind we enjoyed our sunny journey back to the harbour.

Report from Elding: It's always amazing to sail out in such a great weather like we had this morning, warm, sunny and the sea was perfectly calm! After sailing for a while we spotted our first minke whale! A bit later we found a pod of about 6-7 white beaked dolphins and they came very close to us so that we could see their beautiful coloration. We could stay with the dolphins for a while, and even found another minke whale at that time! Just as the minke whale surfaced the second time, we had some more dolphins jumping in the background further away from us, so we had lots of animals all around! We stayed with the minke whale for a while, and ended up having 3-4 more minkes joining in, so we were surrounded by these fantastic animals! We then ran out of time, unfortunately, but we had such a great tour and sailed back to the harbour with big smiles on our faces!

Report from Eldey: With more sunshine we continued our day into the second tour. The weather was still really calm and so we enjoyed the ride out into Faxafloi Bay. It took us just over one hour to find the first minke whale. The individual was a very small juvenile and came up a few times next to the boat, so we could enjoy watching it. But due to its surfacing pattern we lost track of it and continued further. It didn't take us long to find a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins which were very active around our boat and I heard a lot of 'Oooohs' and 'Aaaahs' when they kept surfacing. We were able to enjoy their company for quite a while. And just when we had to head back to the harbour there was a second' larger minke whale surfacing behind  our boat, but unfortunately we were out of time to follow that animal for longer. But never the less it was another fantastic tour out at sea with the sun following us all the way.

Report from Elding: The sunny streak continues and we are all afraid to jinx it, so we smile and are just grateful to have such lovely weather and calm seas. This was one of those few tours where you really can't wrap your mind around the fact that nature is truly an unpredictable mistress. We came to a promising area and had our first brief encounter with a minke whale. This animal has proven to be very elusive and we didn't see it again and after we were happy to observe the the whale by our self, unaccompanied by other whale watching boats. We had to continue. Little did we know that this kind of behaviour will repeat it self 3 more times. They were all there...but they were not there. It was like the whales were having a "siesta". We were quite distanced from Reykjavik when we decided to turn back. Unfortunately, on our way back we didn't manage to rectify the teasing-whale situation, so we decided to give complimentary tickets to our passengers so they could give it one more shot.

Report from Eldey: The wind had picked up quite a bit, compared to the morning tour, but our passengers were prepared for this weather and still enjoyed being outside. We searched the bay of Faxafloi for quite some time, facing the winds all the way out. All of a sudden a pod of 4-5 white beaked dolphins surfaced next to our boat. We managed to see these beautiful animals a couple of times, but it was rather difficult to follow them, as they surfaced unpredictably. After this brief encounter we continued our search, but we were unsuccessful in the end as we did not come across any more cetaceans during this tour. As we would have loved to give our passengers more time with these incredible animals, we gave out complimentary tickets at the end of the tour, so they can try their luck again on another whale watching trip with us for free.
