CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey : It is under a grey sky that we started our sail in Faxafloi bay. After about 20 minutes some harbour porpoises, a pod of about 4 to 5 passed by us really fast. We continued our way out and got lucky enough to spot a humpback whale ! This humpback whale appeared a few times quite close to us, letting us have a good look on its impressive size. As we were observing this animal another individual humpback whale breached in the distance. As we got closer to it we got to see a few breaches and some powerful peduncle throw ! Extremely impressive. We saw this individual displaying this beahviour a few times and headed toward a third individual humpback whale in the area. After a few surfacing sequences of this thrid one we started our way back toward the harbour. In out tour as well we got lucky enough to observe a few backs, maybe 4 to 6, different individual minke whales. This was definetely a great tour !

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 10:00

Report from Elding: We started the tour with a cloudy sky and a bit of a rain. We sailed out and some of us could see a very quick surface of a minke whale. We stopped for it but we couldn´t see it anymore so we continued until we spotted a humpback whale. We spent some time with it but we couldn´t have a nice encounter as it was moving very quick. Finally, some minutes later, we saw another humpback but this time we could see it from closer and the experience was way nicer! With that one we got to see two humpback whales in the tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out with a cloudy sky but warmer temperature and a flat sea. Everything was quiet and we just saw few birds mainly scattered. After a while I spotted a blow far out and once we were closer 1 humpback whale showed us up its giant fluke for a beautiful deep dive. This was suddenly by a huge "oooh" by the passengers. While we were waiting for the animal to come up again  we saw 1 minke whale traveling quite fast in the middle of the area we stopped to admire the other species. We spent a nice time admiring this humpback quite relaxed and a bit lazy but also very close to the boat. The rostrum and the big double blow hole were pretty visible and we could even hear its breath. After this we decided to head into another direction to check for other wildlife where we saw  other 2 minke whales traveling more far out. We ended the tour admiring another humpback whale and this gentle giant showed the fluke few times before going back to the harbor. Vey nice!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from Elding: This afternoon we sailed out again with very calm seas, eager to see what Faxa floi had in store for us. Not long after leaving the harbour we spotted a blow but as we got closer this individual vanished. From the behaviour it felt like a minke whale but it was tricky to say as we did not see it well enough. We continued further out and spotted a few more mystery blows that did not want to be followed. Then - a bigger blow! We had found a humpback whale! This individual had a beautiful white fluke and went for multiple fluke dives but was taking quite some time between them. As luck would have it, while we waited for the whale to resurface we could also see another minke whale under a flock of Arctic terns. Just before heading onwards we did one more quick loop a little further North and we were all glad we did. We saw another humpback whale that was joined by a pod of 8-10 jumping white beaked dolphins! They were swimming and jumping all around us and the humpback whale would come up in the middle of all the commotion. What a spectacular end to the tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Eldey: No sun was really visible tonight as we started our late afternoon sail. We had great hope we would find some wildlife as we had seen cetaceans in the previous tours. After some time navigating we saw a humpback whale ! The animal maifested itself by making a few high peduncle throws a few hundred meters away from our vessel. We spent a bit of time with this animal, observing it in the wind and even once it dove right on the side of our vessel. After that we saw a pod of 2 to 4 white beaked dolphins that were jumping in the waves in front of our boat. It was then time to get back toward the harbour in a bit more wind that at the beginning of the tour but still in a relatively calm ocean.
