Tour at 09:00 and 13:00: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00 Report from Eldey: Sailing conditions were improved this afternoon as the rain ceased and the wind dropped significantly. It took no time to see our first cetacean of the afternoon as 2 harbour porpoises were sighted surfacing just past Akurey. However the porpoises were very difficult to watch, as they were only seen by a few passengers before they disappeared. We did not stop and continued our search in our preferred searching location. Here, we were not disappointed as a fragmented group of 30-40 white-beaked dolphins were spotted feeding amongst small fishing vessels. We stayed with them for about 45 minutes until it was about time for us to head back to Reykjavik. On our way back we came across a nursery pod of 20-30 white-beaked dolphins with at least 3 juveniles being very playful and performing acrobatics. Everyone left the boat with big smiles on their face. It was a great day with dolphins on both tours.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We started today with typical Icelandic winter weather, rain and wind. It was not very pleasant but passengers seemed to love it with a big smile on their faces. The weather got better and better throughtout the tour and the by in the last hour of the tour the rain stopped and skies cleared to show us the beautiful landscape. After 1 hour searching we spotted a flock of seabirds, under them a big shadow, a big shoal of small sandeels. With the birds a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins enjoying the feast. After another 20 minutes another 5-7 dolphins came leaping into the feeding frenzy and then more and more. By the end we must have seen at least 20-30 individuals. Absolutely amazing and incredible to watch nature at it's best.
