CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was a nice overcast morning on the bay today as we sailed into Faxaflói to look for some cetaceans. After about an hour of searching, we spotted one blow in the distance! But before we could take a look at this animal, many small fins started to appear on our left-hand side! These were white-beaked dolphins, and a big pod of about 15-20 individuals too! Some of them were leaping out of the water! Then we saw another blow in the distance, and we decided to check it out. Suddenly, this blow turned into two blows and we could see a pair of humpback whales swimming together side by side! These two whales stayed together for the whole encounter, never straying more than a few meters away from one another, and they gave us many beautiful fluke dives! In this area were also two minke whales, so it was apparent that there was a lot of food here. After this we said goodbye to the whales and headed back to land happy after a great encounter!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: the weather was lovely this afternoon as we sailed out under a bright, warm sun wind the wind in our backs. On this tour we saw 2 minke whales even though we only saw them very shortly, surfacing a couple times. But no matter! We also saw 2 humpback whales both of then swimming very calmly by themselves, fluke-diving very often and staying nice and close to our boat. We were even able to spot their majestic dorsal fins through the water! After a nice long time with the humpbacks we got to sail back home incredibly happy about the afternoon.
