CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: This morning, we had great conditions for smooth sailing. The wind wasn't too cold, the rain was very light and visibility was in our favour as well. Throughout the trip, we kept encountering harbour porpoises, totaling in 10 porpoises sighted on this trip. These guys are usually quite shy, but we had the chance to take a good look at a few very brave ones that were swimming close to the boat. We arrived at a very busy area full of birds, 4 minke whales and around 10 humpback whales feeding. Our captain Otto reported that our fish finder picked up on a LOT of fish which is great because we love observing feeding whales! Among the birds, we also started seeing more and more puffins, getting us excited for the puffin breeding season coming up very soon. We returned home with the sun shining on our faces and happy with such a good tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: The wind had calmed down and changed to a southern direction as we went out. Not far after we passed the lighthouse on Grótta, we spotted the dorsal fins of some white-beaked dolphins. It turned out to be a small pod of around 6 individuals traveling along. The took an interest in our boat and got close to us so that we were able to get some nice photos of them. We continued our way out and soon spotted some splashing in the distance. This time it was a fast traveling pod of around 10 harbour porpoises. More shy than the dolphins these little guys disappeared quickly and so we went on. Out on the bay we spotted some white puffs and a huge splash of a breaching whale on the horizon. As we got to the area we found ourselves surrounded by at least 10 humpback whales and at least 2 minke whales. We stayed with some of them for a good time until we had to return to the harbor. On our way back we crossed the path of another large pod of harbor porpoises. What an amazing tour in great weather!
