CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: After cancelling in the morning, conditions calmed down and we were excited to head out! According to the weather report, we were in the eye of the storm, which meant it was overcast and drizzly, but the wind and the waves were quite pleasant. As we went out, we noticed a lot of seabirds and especially the dive-bombing Northern gannets drew our attention. We reached an area with even more bird activity and our boat's fish finder detected a whole lot of fish under the surface. This made it an interesting area for us because often the fish doesn't just attract seabirds but also cetaceans. And this was the case today! We were stationary for a moment and the we saw a pod of around 7 to 8 white-beaked dolphins swimming our way! They swam straight at us, passed underneath the boat and showed up behind us. After a moment, they had disappeared. But we already spotted our next cetacean! There was a very active humpback whale nearby! It was easily drawing our attention as it was repeatedly slapping its fluke against the water's surface. We got closer and got to see a peduncle throw and even more fluke slapping. We also noticed that it was not just on humpback whale, but two! It got even busier. After while, we noticed another solitary whale nearby and another pair that was swimming our way too, making the total count of humpback whales in the area 5! We got to spend quite some time observing these lovely animals. They surfaced quite close to the boat a few times and spent a lot of time by the surface. On several occasions, we observed beautiful fluke dives and were beyond exited about the incredible wildlife in our oceans! We spotted a rainbow and eventually, it was time to return to port.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00
Report from Eldey: The sea was calm and although parts of Faxaflói were foggy, we had pretty good visibility this late afternoon. Lots of harbour porpoises appeared all throughout the tour: four groups of 1-3 individuals each came and went, and one of the pods even came up very close to our portside. Out of nowhere, a minke whale came up 200 meters in front of us, but as she was swimming in the opposite direction of us, we decided to enjoy her from a distance and continue our course. Further in the bay, two humpback whales were swimming synchronously, lifting their tails up frequently and coming up side by side. When we left them, a minke whale came up behind us so we had a few more looks at this species before we started heading back. A little while later, we spotted another pair of humpback whales who were also swimming side by side. They came up very close to us, and we enjoyed some more wonderful moments with these beautiful animals before it was time to head back to harbour.
