Tour at 9:00
Report from Hafsúlan: We traveled west with the winds for a nice calm sailing on the way out into the bay. I minke whale was the first to be spotted but only by the guide once in the binoculars, we slowed down searched the area throughly in the hope we could show our passengers. Hundreds of birds were present in relatively big flocks encircling and skimming down to the surface, by the way they were feeding it looked as though they were feeding on copepods, a small crustacean that birds, baleen whales and a variety of other marine species love to feed on. It looked good and hopeful, we searched a large area but unfortunately did not see the minke whale again. We did find a small pod of 2-3 harbour porpoises, which popped up just 20 meters from the boat, they looked very busy in feeding and was occasionally seen surfing the waves. Most if not all passengers got to see and hopefully get a picture or two. It was slow after that, winds were picking up and the bird life reducing. We kept on searching but no more cetaceans were seen. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets for a free whale watching tour in the next 2 years. Hope to see you all again within this time.
