Report from Eldey: A strong wind was blowing from the North accompanied by some snow and swell making it a true winters sailing right from the beginning. We explored the Eastern part of Faxafloi bay, also searching carefully close to the islands in front of Reykjavik to make sure to not miss out on anything and to see if the minke whale from yesterday was still there. Since we are dealing with wild animals they are, however, moving around freely and are not staying within the same area all the time. We were sharpening our eyes, and the visibility being quite good, were scanning our surroundings as thoroughly as possible. There were birds scattered around us throughout the tour but no big flocks. That is usually something we look for to indicate the good areas for fish and possibly then whales and dolphins in there feeding as well. We spotted a small pod of 4-5 harbour porpoises pop up briefly but being very elusive they disappeared soon. Despite our best efforts, whales and dolphins just didn't seem to be in the area today, probably looking for fish somewhere else. We want to give our passengers more chances to try and see these animals and therefore provided everyone a complimentary ticket allowing to come on another whale watching tour for free within the next two years.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 13:00. There is always some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
