Report from Eldey : It was a wonderful sunny afternoon, very cold but with amazing views on Reykjavik and on the landscape. After a first 40 minutes of sailing we arrived in an area with a lot of bird activity. Big flocks of birds were moving in small areas probably excited by the presence of fish. We stopped and soon we start seen cetaceans surfacing. It was minke whales, probably 5 in total. They were not easy to spot but the presence of those flocks helped because one of the minke was lunge-feeding under those birds, swimming on the side to take a big gulp of water and fish. We went a bit further away to see if we could find something else but nothing was appearing and we did not have a lot of time left so we came back to the same area. This time we spotted 3 pods of white beaked dolphins. First a small one with 3 individuals, then another one that was going away that was 6-8 individuals, and finally a nice pod with 5-7 individuals with a few ones jumping. A few of those social animals came very close to our boat, bow-riding a bit, clearly curious about our boat. We went back a bit late but very happy of our afternoon.
