Tour at 17:00

A very nice and unforgettable tour out sea: two main sightings of feeding minke whales in asociation with seabirds. We had a very large flock of puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes and even gannets feeding with 3 minke whales, one of which surfaced rolling on one side and showing its pinkish belly.. really spectacular!! The second sighting we had it was with oher 3 minke whales, which were always less than 50 m far from us. A group of 4 white-beaked dolphins has been spotted as well.To conclude the tour, we even had a young humpback whale, surfacing less than 10 m far from our boat!

Its cloudy and rainy, but the ocean is not that rough, we have not many seasick people :) Our first stop is the Puffin island. Later we see a whale, very soon. It is a Beaked whale! That is very special event, because we never spotted this whale in this bay. They appear in the South of Iceland but even there it’s rare to see them, because they are shy. We saw the beak and the back with the dorsal fin of the whale, it was very close in front of our boat. Later on we observed about 3 - 4 Minke whales with 2 Humpback whales. One Humpback whale was tail-slapping about 100m from our boat. We didn´t see the Beaked whale again. This was a special nice tour!

The sea was a bit choppy but we had good sightings: a lot of minke whales, more than 4 all around a flock of feeding birds, kept on surfacing for a long time. One minke whale was very large and it has as well a very distimcitve curved dorsal fin! In the group of feeding minke whales also a humpback whale showed up: it surfaced several times just underneath the flock of seabirds!
