Tour at 13:00

It was still a bit windy and the sun was shining when we headed out to Faxaflói this afternoon. We stopped by the puffin island Akurey and saw some puffins. We sailed very far out and spent a long time searching for whales. Finally we found a group of white-beaked dolphins. They came very close to the boat, surfacing many times. We spotted four minke whales, the first three surfaced only ones or twice before disappearing and only very few of our passengers were able to see them. Very late in the tour we spotted a big group of diving gannets and feeding birds. In the same area we spotted a fast swimming group of harbour porpoises and the last minke whale. This whale surfaced 6-7 times so we hope that all our passenger could see it at least once. So all together nice tour.

Birds seen on the tour. Puffins, gannets, arctic skua, fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots and black-guillemots

Tour at 09:00

We began this beautiful morning by visiting the puffin island Akurey. There were not many Puffins on the island. Few flying around, some sitting at the surface so those we saw we were able to observe very well. Around the island we also spotted some Black-Guillemots, Fulmars, Kittiwakes and Gulls. We then headed out, twice a Minke Whale was spotted but unfortunately it only surfaced once and we were not able to follow it, therefore not everyone saw it and we issued complimentary ticked for the passengers to join us again another time
