CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Elding: It was really quite cold this morning on our tour. Thankfully the waves were calm, though. We sailed out past many Atlantic puffins on our journey. There was a great view of Snæfellsjökull which is quite a rarity. After just over an hour we spotted a fluke in the direction of Keflavik. This individual seemed to be moving quickly as the blows were very fast moving. As we searched for this whale 3 harbour porpoises swam across the front of our boat. We eventually caught up to them and realised we had actually come across 2 humpback whales! We decided to spend more time with one so we aren't disturbing them both too much especially because one was close to the other boats in the area. We got to see it surface fairly regularly and see the humpy dorsal fin. It also showed us its very white fluke which was cool. This was a really nice moment. We then headed back to the harbour after a great tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Elding: The afternoon tour started with a cloudy sky and a light wind. We sailed across the bay towards the same area we saw the whales in the previous tour. Just after half an hour I spotted 2 blows in the distance. As we were going closer we could spot a fluke dive of 1 humpback whale! We decided to go closer to look also for the other individual. In the meantime, a small dorsal fin just showed up in front of the bow very fast. It was 1 harbour porpoise swimming in the opposite direction of our course but all the passenger were quick to catch a glimpse of it. We continued our search for the whales and despite it was a bit tricky we finally saw the other humpback. We enjoyed different fluke dives and few of them very close to the boat. Everyone was super excited! Despite these individuals seemed shy and elusive, we really spent a quality time in the ocean!
