Report from Eldey: Pure sunshine greeted us this afternoon, paired with flat seas and nearly no wind it was so pleasant to be outside and enjoy this trip. The further out we sailed, the more birds appeared, likely meaning that there was plenty of fish around for them to feed on. This is what we hoped would also mean whales and dolphins will come into these areas. And then we spotted a really large and veeeeery active flock of birds in the direction of Akraness and underneath them, dolphins! SO MANY DOLPHINS! They were showing up all around us, making it almost impossible to count, but likely they were between 40-50 individual white-beaked dolphins. Some were feeding, others milling while other came to socialise with us and were bow-riding. We chose to spend a good hour with them as it is so special to be surrounded by these animals!!

Report from Eldey: It truly is the Land of Ice and Fire. It was a freezing morning, with temperatures well below zero Celcius, but as the sun began to rise during our sail out, it painted the sky in yellow and red, just like fire. After just about an hour we spotted a huge and very active flock of birds in the direction of Keilir. Sailing towards it, we encountered a minke whale which seemed to be feeding on the same fish as the birds! We saw it a total of six times and then it just dove under and dissappeared. With the amazing visibility we had that did not break our optimism in finding anything else though! Unfortunately, despite constant searching the minke whale remained our only sighting and as we felt it did not live up to our standards, we handed out complimentary tickets which are valid for a free return trip within the next two years.

Birds seen today include: razorbill, common guillemot, eider duck, black-backed gull, northern gannet, great cormorant, glaucous gull.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
