Tour at 13:00

The wind picked up a little for the first hour then calmed right down for the last two. We headed out offshore and came across a small pod of Harbour Porpoises. They weren’t seen for a couple of minutes so we headed away, they didn’t seem to like that we left so they came back and gave the passengers a really nice encounter, surfacing loads and really close to the boat. The first Minke Whale we spotted was difficult so we headed further offshore and again came across an area where there was a few and these were great. Again surfacing very close to the boat so everyone could get some nice pictures. In this area we also saw diving Gannets and more Harbour Porpoises. During the tour we also saw loads of Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes and Fulmars and on the way back we also saw our second Arctic Skua of the season. Fantastic!

Tour at 9:00

The weather wasn’t as nice as yesterday but nice enough to see some whales. We saw two of Faxaflói’s cetaceans on this tour Harbour Porpoises and Minke Whales and lots of them. The first couple of Minke Whales were quite elusive but we came to an area where there were quite a few. One or two of them surfaced only 30 meters from the boat and surfaced a couple of times so that everyone could get a great look. The Porpoises were very photogenic today too. It has been the first tour in a while were Minke Whales were coming very close to the boat and surfacing many time for people to see. Over the last couple of days they were only surfacing once or twice and then disappearing which made viewing them very difficult. We saw loads of Puffins, Guillemots, Fulmars and Kittiwakes which made the tour very productive.
